1. Change Direction
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”- Henry Ford.
You don’t have to do what you have been doing the last 5 years, if you’re not getting what you want. Why waste another year doing the same thing, when it’s not what you want to be doing? By your own volition, start making changes, one day at a time.
2. Confront Your Fears
“A life lived in fear, is a life half lived.” – Baz Luhrmann
Address what you fear. Write a list of all the things that you are afraid of, everything that’s stopping you from achieving what you want to do. Is it money, security, what other people think, or are you afraid of failing? Don’t dismiss your fears, but don’t let them stop you. Accept the fears that are legitimate, and eliminate the fears that are based on what other people think.
3. Revise Your Goals
Take some time now to start all over again and go through your goals. Look deep into your heart, and write down all the things you want to achieve or do. You know you have a higher purpose, so reach for something above and beyond what you think you can achieve.
4. Be Your Own Cheerleader
You have to start believing in yourself and the possibilities out there for you. It’s never too late to learn something new! There are so many things out there that you can do, whether it be taking a class or online course, learning a new skill, or even reading a book. The key is to be better today than you were yesterday.
5. Become Disciplined
“Discipline equals freedom” – Jocko Willink
Discipline is doing something when you don’t feel like it. Whether you need to get up early, exercise, study or start your own business, you have to keep at it. Every day you do that task you find difficult, you have a victory. Keep at it long enough, and it becomes who you are. Remember, it’s not going to be easy, but if it was, everyone would do it!
6. Be Ferocious
When you have a clear picture of what you want, and you know what you need to do to achieve it, you can’t let anything or anyone stand in your way. You may have to be a little selfish, but that’s what it takes. Every decision or action you have must reflect on the vision you have. There will be times when you are going to be asked to do something that does not align with your goals and dreams, and this is when you have to be ferocious and uncompromising.
If you implement these 6 steps, you will start to see your dreams turn into a reality.
